Who am I?
I am a Christian. A born-again believer who seeks God for daily directions. I have served in a full-gospel ministry as a co-pastor for over 10 years. I am the proud mother of two successful adult daughters and 9 grandchildren . I have a MA Degree from Wayne State University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with Michigan, Georgia, California, and Oregon. In 2023, I was awarded an honorary PhD in Humanities from TIUA.
My Specialties
I specialize in helping individuals and couples struggling with life transitions, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and unresolved anger. I'm a warm, friendly, and experienced counselor who will partner with you to find solutions that get you back on track.
I use cognitive-behavioral therapy to help you identify and reshape negative thought patterns. This talk therapy gives you tools to feel more in control of your emotions and behaviors. Based on your unique needs, I may adapt my approach to include Motivational Interviewing or Solution Focus.
I work with individuals and couples navigating life transitions, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, unresolved anger, relationship challenges, and self-esteem issues. You'll find me to be a calm, patient, and empathetic listener who creates a safe, non-judgmental environment.
My communication style is calm, friendly, and inviting. I may ask questions for clarity or propose other options for you to consider. Ultimately, I'm here to support, guide, and encourage you in your journey to be your best self.
I'm from a working-class family and learned resilience early on. My family values sparked an ongoing desire to make a positive difference in my life and those around me. I established CLASS a nonprofit organization, in Detroit, to provide emotional support to families.
We'll work together to identify and set goals that matter to you, whether improving relationships, building self-esteem, or another personal objective. As you gain new insights, your goals may change, and we can adapt our plan at any time to ensure it's always meaningful and relevant to you.
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. You'll share your background and what brought you to therapy. It's completely normal to feel nervous, and I'll do my best to put you at ease. We'll take it one step at a time.
.
If you need emotional support or want help to be your best self, contact me and let's work together to improve your tomorrow.
